Pioneer TS-D Series was launched early last year, its manufacturers are proud to say that this new generation speakers are made with basalt. Well we are all aware that basalt is a type of volcanic rock. They had used this in their speaker cone to amplify its rigidity and power. All in all they have a sum of thirteen speakers in both Pioneer Premier and Pioneer brands that has a Dual Layer IMX Aramid/Basalt fiber compound cone to convey precise full sound reproduction. They had said that their speaker engineers are always looking at diverse materials to improve their products.

One of these speakers is the Pioneer D Series TS-D6902R is a component speaker with a pair of 6”x9” 2-way car audio speaker. This is a little bit larger than earlier models of TS-D. It has integrated TS-D6802R’s elliptical structure. It has a frequency response of 28Hz to 30kHz and its power handling is 80W (RMS) / 360W (PMPO), making it better than the previous models. Moreover, its material is made of Butyl Rubber – Surround, a custom fit basket especially designed for cars like Mazda and Ford.
